Today’s card: Queen Vashti
Her story: Oh, how I love this woman’s story! It’s hard to read, painful to acknowledge, and nothing close to a happy ending, but within it we bear witness to her strength, her courage, and her not-to-be-questioned sovereignty that had nothing to do with her title or her crown and everything to do with her sense of self.
She is, of course, one of the chapters in my soon-to-be-released book. I mean: how could I NOT include her? So, today an excerpt from Rewriting Eve in Queen Vashti’s honor (and yours):
