I Pulled a Card for You

Today’s card: Esther

Her story: How fun (and amazing) that Esther is the card I pulled today given that just yesterday my book, Rewriting Eve, was published and hers is one of the ten stories I tell within its pages!

I’m guessing you’ve heard of her. All the young girls of the kingdom are rounded up (sex-trafficked, really) so that the king can choose the one he wants for his new queen. Esther is taken from all she’s ever known and thrust into an environment that had to be frightening and overwhelming. Eventually, she is the one the king chooses. And though we might think this some kind of “happy ending,” I’m quite sure it was anything but.

Not long after she is named queen her cousin discovers a plot to commit genocide on all the Jews - of which Esther is one. It takes a few tries and a tremendous amount of courage but ultimately she is able to expose both the perpetrator and the plot and save an entire nation.
