I Pulled a Card for You
From my Sacred Muse deck: a woman, her story, and oh-so-much wisdom - all for you!
Today’s card: The Woman of Revelation 12
Her story: Oh my goodness! I’m thrilled that I drew this card today as this woman’s story is one of my VERY favorites AND she comprises the very last chapter of my book . . . now only 2.5 weeks from publication! Woohoo!
OK. Enough of my shameless plug. Back to the woman herself. Here’s my paraphrased version of her very strange and beyond-amazing story:
A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, the moon under her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in the pain of labor.
Another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. It stood before the woman, prepared to devour her child the moment it was born.
She gave birth to a son who, as it has been foretold, will rule all the nations. God rescued the child from the dragon—whisking him away to safety. The woman was kept safe, as well. She fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.
Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and won. He was hurled to the earth, his angels with him—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray.
When the dragon saw that he had been defeated, he pursued the woman. She was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she could fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the dragon’s reach. So, the dragon spewed water like a river from its mouth—trying to sweep her away with the torrent. But this time, the earth itself rose up on her behalf by opening its mouth and swallowing the river. Then the dragon, even more enraged, went off to wage war against the rest of the woman’s offspring . . .
Now, how about some words about her from my book?!?
